Hello Arroyo West,

My name is Diane Weis and I’m extremely happy to join the staff at Arroyo West as the Interim Principal. I am very passionate about the engaging, high quality programs at the school site and I look forward to partnering with you and the staff to continue the fabulous
experiences our students are receiving.

Before retiring from the District, I served in a variety of teaching and administrative roles over the past 41 years. I have been a classroom teacher, a Program Specialist and Director of Special Education.
Arroyo West is particularly dear to me as my own children attended school here!

The past couple of days, I was able to spend time with Mr. Fennell, visiting classrooms and meeting students and staff. I am very excited to officially begin the position next Tuesday. I believe that by working together, we can make sure your child’s social, emotional and
academic needs are met.

I recognize the importance of a strong home-school connection so please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.

Dear Arroyo West Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce I will be leaving Arroyo West effective January 21st, 2020.   I have recently accepted a position as the new principal of the High School at Moorpark College. This was an incredibly difficult decision because the Arroyo West family is absolutely wonderful and I have cherished every moment of my experience here; however this change provides personal and professional opportunities that I simply could not pass on. When I began at Arroyo West I had every intention that it be my long-term home and I know that the timing of this decision is difficult.

Over the last few days, I have worked directly with Superintendent Dr. Kelli Hays and the District Office to create an effective transition plan for Arroyo West where it will continue to be an outstanding example of what elementary education is meant to be. Effective January 21st, Diane Weis, retired Moorpark Unified Director of Special Education and Arroyo West teacher, will lead Arroyo West as the interim principal. As the District begins the process of finding a new principal for Arroyo West, please be assured that our school-wide focus of growing active thinkers and lifelong readers and writers will continue to be fully supported. I want each of you to know that I will miss you terribly and that you have made an indelible mark on my life. Thank you for everything!

With kindest personal regards,

Christopher Fennell
